St. Paul's Church Centre, Covingham
January 2024 - Urgent need to raise £30,000 to repair the leaking roof.
Many of you will be familiar with the building on the corner of St. Paul's
Drive and Kingfisher Drive in Covingham. St. Paul's - also a community
centre - is helping the local community by providing a centre for many
church and non-church groups. The centre fills a gap in the provision
of a meeting place for pre-school and after school groups, a social meeting
place for senior citizens, a warm space coffee morning and hosts groups
trying to lose weight or re-gain lost fitness as well as many others.
The building is over 40 years old and is showing signs of tiredness. By
improving the facilities we will make the building more comfortable and
attractive to the many people who use it.
We have funded from our own resources the upgrading of our kitchen and
a new floor to the youth and playgroup rooms. The members of the church
have raised funds to replace the chairs in the chapel. The chapel heating
has been upgraded; The Chapel and Hall floors have been replaced and an
improved dividing screen has been installed between the chapel and hall.
We are grateful for the help of grants from the Garfield
Weston Foundation, Wiltshire
Historic Churches Trust and The
Landfill Communities Trust.
While the income from lettings covers the day to day running there is
a need to raise funds to continue the maintenance to the structure and
fittings of the building.
As St. Paul's is not a traditional or listed building grant aid from many
sources are closed to us.
For contributions please see the Parish
Giving Scheme. Here you can make regular or one off donations and
Gift Aid them if you pay tax.
